The Netflix reality series Selling the City is making waves, and one of its standout cast members, Jordyn Taylor Braff, is opening up about her past romance with comedian Trevor Noah—and how it shaped her career in real estate.
Jordyn Taylor Braff’s Unexpected Connection with Trevor Noah
During the show’s first season, which premiered on January 3, Jordyn, 34, shared details about her dating history with co-star Abigail Godfrey.
“Love brought me here,” she said. “It ended many, many years ago.”
Jordyn recalled meeting Trevor Noah through Twitter, calling it a “random” occurrence that she wouldn’t recommend. At the time, Noah was not yet a household name, which made their initial meeting all the more nerve-wracking.
“He was a celebrity, but back then, nobody knew who he was,” she explained. “I was so nervous that I started lunging down the street for some reason, and he was like, ‘This girl is weird.’”
Did Trevor Noah Borrow Her Jokes?
Despite Noah’s rise to fame as a comedian, Jordyn claimed she was actually “the funnier one” in their relationship.
“Trevor borrowed my material all the time,” she revealed. “I think I was the subject of his jokes sometimes, but he also straight-up stole my material—100 percent.”
From Romance to Real Estate Success
Jordyn also credited Noah with playing a pivotal role in her real estate career.
“He ended up purchasing an apartment, which became my first ultra-luxury deal,” she said. “It was a $10 million deal—the only time you’ll ever hear that I slept with a client.”
This transaction helped Jordyn transition from rentals and lower-end sales into the luxury real estate market, which ultimately kept her in the industry. “Love kept me here, but not love for him—love for the city,” she added.
Inside Netflix’s Selling the City
Created by Selling Sunset producer Adam DiVello, Selling the City offers a fresh take on high-end real estate in New York. The show follows Eleonora Srugo’s team at Douglas Elliman, featuring agents Taylor Middleton, Gisselle Meneses Nunez, Jade Chan, and Justin Tuinstra. Former Million Dollar Listing New York star Steve Gold also makes guest appearances throughout the season.
Trevor Noah’s Journey Post-Breakup
Following his split from Jordyn in 2018, Noah dated actress Minka Kelly for two years before their breakup in 2021. He recently spoke about his views on relationships, addressing societal pressures around marriage and being single.
“Society has deemed me a loser whether I like it or not,” Noah joked on his What Now? podcast. “Being married is like you’ve served—there’s an honor to it.”
He also highlighted the challenges of navigating social events as a single person.
“There’s this weird thing people do where they treat you like you’re not a serious person in life if you haven’t been married,” he noted.
Advocating for the importance of platonic relationships, Noah said, “One of the great discoveries of my life was realizing I didn’t need to be good at every aspect of friend-making—I just needed to find people who were.”
