Nestlé unveils a new KitKat shape designed for better sharing as a rare chocolate bar gets discontinued

KitKat is making waves announcing its change which will be the largest in the company’s history and the second largest, after last decade’s change, within the span of 90 years. This change includes the iconic chocolate bar and how it will change from a 4-finger bar to a grand 2 column sharing bar.

This renowned British chocolate brand is in the works of releasing a 99g bar that comes with multiple break-off pieces making it convenient to share, departing from its traditional strip theme set in 1935.

This notable change came to existence almost roughly 9 decades after Rowntree’s of York first came out with the famous four didgitt finger bars. This change comes after KitKat’s suggestion of creating a finger bar that would be put in a men’s work bag.

According to KitKat’s manufacturers Nakash, the reasoning for implementing this change aims towards making it “easier to create moments of connection” between people, especially when sharing chocolate bars.

The four will be available in three flavors including double chocolate, salted caramel, and hazel nut.

A spokes person from Nestle said that with this new design, comes an innovative way of consuming a chocolate bar which combines senses of sight and taste. These bars have a life and creamy filling which melts in the mouth.

They further went on to explain how the combination of different textures combine to make a stunning experience further intensified by norwegian chocolate which has a marbled wonderland coat around it.

The redesign marks a considerable change for the brand, which, unlike its competitors, has always maintained its signature four-finger format since its creation by Rowntree’s of York.

Fans of the product seem really enthusiastic about the new design that Nestle recently uploaded on social media. Chocolate lovers seem to be voicing gusto towards the products.

“As chocolate lovers, we know we have to sample them all,” wrote one fan, while another commented, “These seem like fun to try!!!”

Customers additionally shared, “Impatiently waiting for my local to put them on the shelves, says they are in stock.”

This transformation in the KitKat design comes on the heels of Nestlé’s announcement that the company will be stopping the vegan KitKat because of poor sales.

The plant-based option, first available in 2021, will only be offered “until summer” in 15 European countries including the United Kingdom, France, and Denmark.

The product, branded as vegan KitKat, which had a selling price of approximately 1 British pounds, is made with a base of rice milk with the added benefit of 100% sustainable cocoa. Hence, it has a smaller carbon footprint 18 percent lower than its traditional counterparts.

A spokesperson for Nestlé said, “We know that people did love KitKat Vegan as a dairy or vegan option.” as reported in The Mirror.

“Sadly, here, we saw global demand dropping so significantly that meeting the supply became ever more complicated. This sudden decrease forced us to discontinue the product, which was not an easy decision.”
