Chuck D criticises use of Public Enemy song during LA fires

"

American rapper Chuck D criticized the use of Public Enemy's track "Burn Hollywood Burn," explaining that the song was unrelated to families losing their homes in the California wildfires.

Many celebrities, including Mel Gibson, Jeff Bridges, Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, Cary Elwes, Ricki Lake, Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, and Diane Warren, lost their homes in the raging fires.

The wildfires in California have killed 10 people, destroyed communities, and forced thousands to evacuate, including those living in areas with celebrity homes.

Chuck D clarified on Instagram that "Burn Hollywood Burn" is a protest song linked to the 1965 Watts riots, coined by DJ Magnificent Montague during the unrest against inequality.

He stressed that the song has no connection to the tragedy faced by forest fire victims and urged people to know the history behind it.

Public Enemy, known for its political and anti-racism music, was founded in the 1980s and has released hits such as "Fight the Power."
