Josh Allen is off to another strong first-round showing to start his most recent Super Bowl run. The Buffalo Bills started the playoffs as overwhelming favorites to defeat the Denver Broncos at Orchard Park after easily winning the AFC East for the fifth time in a row with a 13-4 record. In the final minutes, they increased their lead to 31-7 after scoring 21 points in a row in response to a fiercely contested first half.

Late in the third quarter, Allen wowed the crowd. The star quarterback danced around the pocket before throwing a dart to Ty Johnson in tight coverage on a 4th-and-1. For a 24-yard touchdown, the running back stayed in bounds while navigating the back of the end zone.
With that score, Allen set a Bills record. He passed Jim Kelly for the most touchdowns in team history with his 22nd playoff passing touchdown.
A few minutes later, Allen gave Curtis Samuel a 55-yard touchdown pass to increase his lead. For 272 yards, the MVP candidate has completed 20 of 26 passes.
Buffalo’s 5-5 record, which includes three losses to the Kansas City Chiefs and three consecutive AFC Divisional Round losses, may cause some analysts to doubt Allen’s playoff credentials. But he has often performed exceptionally well in January.
Allen finished with 2,723 passing yards, 563 rushing yards, and four interceptions in 10 starts prior to Sunday’s game, giving him a quarterback rating of 100.0.
The Bills are about to win their fifth consecutive first-round game. Allen wants to create a different kind of franchise history, of course.
The Bills are one of 12 NFL teams that have not yet won a Super Bowl, despite Kelly leading them to four consecutive AFC titles. This is the only time Allen has led them to the AFC Championship Game.
It won’t be easy for Buffalo to get to New Orleans. The Baltimore Ravens and the Bills will square off in a crucial second-round matchup. They might have to travel to Kansas City again for the AFC championship if they defeat Lamar Jackson and company.
