Devon Sawa Teases Possible Return to ‘Final Destination’ as Franchise Turns 25

As Final Destination celebrates its 25th anniversary, actor Devon Sawa—who portrayed Alex Browning, the teen who cheated death only to face its relentless pursuit—has hinted at the possibility of returning to the franchise.

Though Alex was revealed to have died off-screen between Final Destination (2000) and Final Destination 2 (2003), Sawa remains open to making a comeback. “If the opportunity ever came up, for sure,” he told People.

The long-running horror franchise is set to continue with its sixth installment, Final Destination: Bloodlines, which hits theaters on May 16. Directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein and written by Jon Watts, Guy Busick, and Lori Evans Taylor, the film explores the origins of Death’s eerie design.

According to its synopsis, Bloodlines follows Stefanie, a college student tormented by violent recurring nightmares. Determined to break the cycle and save her family, she seeks out the one person who might hold the key to stopping their inevitable fate.

The film stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana, Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Rya Kihlstedt, Anna Lore, Brec Bassinger, and the late Tony Todd, who passed away in November 2024 at age 69.

While Sawa does not appear in Bloodlines—the first new Final Destination film in nearly 14 years—he has heard promising things about it. “I hear the movie is phenomenal,” he said. As for his own future in the franchise, he remains optimistic: “Maybe we will revisit Final Destination one day, but you never know.”
